It’s not that they cast her in particular. I have nothing against her as an actress.
What bothers me is that this feels like an attempt to take the epic friendship of Holmes and Watson and turn it into a big happy het romance. I would have preferred that they left the leads male or, if they were hungry to set themselves apart, genderswapped both roles.
This just feels wrong to me.
